The male o f this fpecies is furniilied with a long recurved born on the head; the female has only a
fmall rifing on that part. I t is found in Europe as well as China.

The annexed figures exhibit the two iexes o f Scarabæus Seniculus. In fome fpecimens Üie fpots arc
very indiiÜnét and reddifli, in others the wing-cafes have faint red Ûriæ. The female has the rudiments of
horns on the tliorax.
