us undcfcribed. I t is not noticed among the Tettigonia! o f Fabricius. in his laft fyftemalic arrangement

One o f the moft beautiful fpecies of the Indiau Cicada!. The wing cafes are black, elegantly reticu.
lated, and fpotted with bright blue. At the extremity o f the abdomen it has a tuft o f long and very deli,
cate hairs, intermixed svith others that are rather convoluted and o f a coarfer texture. The whole o f this
infeft, but p.irticularly between the abdomen aud wings, is fometimes profufely covered w ith a fine powder
of a fnowy whitenefs, fimilar to that obferved on the Cicada limbata in the iraperfeft fta te ; hence we
may conclude it is alfo one o f thofe infefts, which funilft. the white wax a fo highly efteemed in China.
