All three models of stoves or grates are made of mahogany and brass, and can be
dismantled to show the route of the flue channels, which is quite complex in b. During
November, 1791, Van Marum paid Michel ofThe Hague ƒ 9—10-0 for two models of
Russian stoves made in mahogany.
The improvement of the efficiency of stoves was of considerable concern, and Desa-
guliers translated and added to, a French work on the subject. Similar models from
the 1790s are in the possession of the American Philosophical Society.

The turbine consists of twelve segments, made of soldered brass, that on rotation cause
the air between them to be forced outwards. With the turbine enclosed in a mahogany
