Construction of mahogany and boxwood. The capstan drive operates directly one
winding drum, and a gear transfers the drive to a second drum. The account from
Cats, dated 15 October 1791, lists “ een Kaapstaan met twee rollen/25” .

A model of a capstan with two catch-locks to the shaft under the platform. The
construction is of mahogany and boxwood. --
On his account for 1789, P. J. Honoré notes for 12 December the repair of a
mahogany capstan at a cost off 1—8—0. This model was probably bought in Amsterdam
at the auction on 18-19 November, 1789, of the instruments of Dr. Bosch (MV).

A model of a simple tripod hoist with windlass, constructed of mahogany and boxwood.
A weight is lifted via a pulley block, the winding cord being attached to the frame.
At the top is a single pulley, over which passes a cord from the pulley block to the
loacjfflj One of the windlass lever arms is missing. The account from Cats, dated 15
October, 1791, lists “ een bok met een ongelyke rol ƒ 25” . Bok or hijschtoestel translates
into English as gin or derrick.
