O N approaching Derbyfhire from the
fouth, the eye of the traveller, fatigued with
level uniformity, is agreeably relieved with
the profpe£t of mountains. For here begins
the chain which has been called the Englifh
Apennines; and which, forming, as it were,
a root in Derbyfhire and part of Chefhire,
afterwards fends forth a trunk, which ran-
