Hymenium cum pileo homogeneum et concrettm, papillosum vel planum, setosum
vel loeve, undique fructificatione obsitum. Pileus persistens coriaceus plerumque
adnatus vel resupinatus.
Hymenium of the same substance, and not distinct from the pileus, papillose
or plane, bearing minute bristles, or smooth, everywhere covered
with the fructification. Pileus persistent, coriaceous, mostly adnate or
resupinate.

Pileus 2-3 inches long or more, and often nearly as broad, resupinate, byssoid
at the margin when young, b u t afterwards entire, and more or less
free at the circumference. Colour pale buff, in age somewhat reddish
in the centre. Substance very leathery, flexible, tough, varying in thickness,
b u t mostly rath e r thin. Hymenium minutely and distinctly reticulated,
the spaces between the reticulations concave, irregular. Sporules
oval.

This species seems to be of very rare occurrence, and not to
have been seen by F r i e s , who conjectures that it may rather
