Peridia in foliis vivis parasitica, membranacea, apice dehiscentia, ore dentato
vel lacerato. Sporidia globosa, minutissima, libera, pulverulenta.
Peridia parasitic on living leaves, m embranaceous, bursting a t the apex, the
orifice dentate or torn. Sporidia very minute, pulverulent.

H ab. On the inferior surface of the leaves of Sorbus Aucuparia (the Moun-
tain Ash)j in Summer and Autumn, very frequent.
Pendía clustered, and issuing from a thickened, b rig h t orange-coloured
spot, about two lines in length, curved, slender, cylindrical, attenuated
towards the apex, which is shortly lacerate. Colour a dilute yellowish-
brown. Sporidia subglobose.
Æcicliuvi cornutum is a well known and conspicuous parasite,
plentifully infesting the leaves o f the Mountain-Ash or
Roan-Tree. I t is produced on the under surface of the leaves,
hut its presence is denoted by a bright reddish spot on the upper
