Ag. odour disagreeable, pileus at length plane, umbonate, the epidermis
cracking off in small scales; lamellæ free, white ; stipes smooth, hollow;
veil a fugacious ring.

Plant scattered, having a taste and smell strong and unpleasant. Pileus
obtusely conical when young, gradually expanding, and at length becoming
quite plane or even somewhat tu rn ed upwards at the margin,
the centre remaining umbonate. The epidermis cracks into a g reat number
o f minute reddish scales, which vanish towards the edge, leaving
th a t p a rt nearly quite white, while towards the centre the scales being
