Thelephora quercina is a well-marked and common species,
yet no figure of it has been published in this country. It belongs,
indeed, to an extensive genus, of which few were known
to be British when S o w e r b y published his excellent plates of
English Fungi. In Flora Edinensis 'I have raised the number
of our species to nineteen; and Captain C a r m i c h a e l has
discovered several others, among which are Thelephora Padi
and Th. pergamenea ( P e r s . Mycol.)
