GENERIC CHARACTER.
Hymenium cum pileo komogeneum et concretum, papillosum vel planum, setosum
vel loeve, undique fructificatione obsitum.— Pileus persistens coriaceus plerumque
adnatus vel resupinatus.

iose or piane, bearing minute bristles, or smooth, everywhere covered
with th e fructification— Pileus persistent, coriaceous, mostly adnate or
resupinate.
SPECIFIC CHARACTER.

involuto, subtus libera, nigrescens.
Th. resupinate, flesh-colour or pale orange, the margin at length involute,
black and free beneath.

Hab. On dead branches of O ak trees, frequent. The whole year.
Pileus h a lf an inch to two inches in breadth; irregularly circular, of a thickish,
somewhat brittle substance, cracking in age, and becoming involute
at the margin. The inferior surface somewhat smooth, free, and at
length black. Hymenium flesh-colour, or pale orange, unequally papillose,
soft to the touch. Sporuks globose.
