road between Jerusalem and Emmaus, still retains the name of
Ramata Zophim, and was in all probability the birthplace of the
prophet Samuel. Near it, andulose to the road, are the remains
of a strong and spacious edifice, apparently of the same architecture
as the tower of Antonia in Jerusalem, and other ruins in
different parts of this country.
