IT S Length from the tip of the Bill to the end of the Tail is eleven
Inches; Breadth, when the Wings are extended, feventeen Inches ;,
the Bill is an Inch long or more, of a dusky or blackiih Colour. -The
Mouth is yellow within fide, the Tongue rough : The Irìdés of the 'Eyes'
are of a dark hazel Colour; the Legs and Feet dusky : the outer Toe is
joined to the middle Toe as far as the firft joint. The. Colour of the
upper Side of the Body is a dark brown or ruflet, inclining to ;black.
The Ring or Collar is below the Throat, juft above the Breaft, of a
white Colour, an Inch broad, of the Form of a Crefccnt, the; Horns
ending at the Sides of the Neck."
It hath eighteen quill Feathers in each Wing ; the Tail is made up of
twelve Feathers four Inches long, tKe'outermoft ¡§5little fliortef than" the
reft. The exterior Feathers of the Tail are hlacker than themiddlemoft ;
the fmall Feathers under the Wings whitiih. * •
It hath a large Gall and'a; round Spleen; 'ini the Stomach Was found
Infe&s and Berries. This .Bird wasihot ,&vi: 'Ibbèri -Abcfy on a Rock
by Crownford in Darby/hire on the fourteenth of April. It is a fcarce
Bird, and is in the moft mountainous Places of that Country, efpecially
about the Peakd
The Guts arc pretty large, but not very long, and confequently has
not many Revolutions. The blind Guts are fmall, white, and very
ihort, as in the reft of this Kind. The Stomach or Gizzard is of a
moderate bignefs, filled partly with InfeBs and partly with the purple
Juicp of Bill-berries, which had alfo tinftured all the Excrements of
the Guts.
