Tlie Swallows occupy pages 276-330, and the author recognizes 66 species, instead of ti.e 37 will,
which he was acquainted in 1783.
He divides the genus “ Swallow ” into tliree sections, placing the Swifts on one side on account of
the form of their toes, and thus disposing of 11 species. This leaves 55 species of Swallow, hut raanv
of these are really Swifts. The additional species to the list of 1783 (Gen. Syn. ii pt 2 n 560) arc
