The m igrations of th is species a re n o t a t a ll easy to follow, as i t appears to be
somewhat irreg u la r in its movements, as detailed above by Air. Hudson. Wh ere th e large
n um b ers which pass th ro u g h Buenos Aii’es spend th e w in ter has yet to he ascertained for
a certainty. The records quoted above show th a t th e species breeds in tho neighbourhood
of Buenos Aires in October, and fu rth e r south, in th e C h u p u t valley, i t was breeding in
December. I n th e la tte r locality i t had left by th e 1st of Alarch, b u t it remains a t
Buenos Aires till A p r i l ; and Air. Barrows state s th a t i t retu rn s early in Ju ly , th o u g h
Air. Du rn fo rd considers Au g u st th e m o n th of a rrival. I t is therefore absent, as a rule,
from Alay till Aug u st, and Air. W h ite m et with i t in Corrieutes in Alay, and N a tte re r
a t Alatogrosso in J u n e ; b u t th a t some bird s rem ain in tlie ir n o rth e rn homo seems to be
proved by its occurrence in San Paulo an d in P e ru iu October.

The specimen figured is from Pelotas, and is evidently a young bird, n o t having th e pure
