The Great Doors of the Chief Magician’s Temple at
Lhasa.
I HAVE REFERRED TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THIS
ATTEMPT TO SET DOWN THE REAL GORGEOUSNESS OF
TIBETAN COLOUR IN THE TEXT. THE RAFTERS ALSO WERE
V IV IDLY BLUE, AND HEAVILY GILT. THE RED COVERING
OF THE PILLAR SHOULD GO DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE
WHITE OBJECTS ON THE DOOR PANELS ARE REALLY REPRESENTATIONS
OF FLAYED HUMAN SKIN?, A"ND SKULLS LINE
THE LINTELS AND JAMBS. THIS. DRAWING SHOULD SUPPLY
THE HUES OF THE PHOTOGRAPH OF THE SAME PLACE OVER
THE PAGE.
