F r id a y , September 20,1816.
After midnight the same
squally weather continued. As
the day advanced it cleared up.
In the afternoon it became
squally, with slight showers of
rain. Towards evening it looked
very black all round.
I t seems probable that this is
the breaking up of the monsoon.
We were so completely
sheltered by the land, thkt we
did not feel the wind niuch;
but it was evidently ‘ blowing
hard outside.
Saturday, September 21, 1816.
During the day the wind has
been South-easterly, with occasional
squalls and showers of
rain, and lightning.
In the forenoon the wind
hauled to the' Eastward^ and
cleared up.
