Br. Buller, in passing through Mayence, examined the
ty p es of Bruch’s Icarus pomare, and considered th ey were
not th e same as th e New Zealand bird. Dr. Finsch, how-
(?ver, liaving received a series of L. hulleri from New
Zealand, sen t for the types of L . pomare, and declares the
id en tity of th e two species. The young of L. pomare is,
according to th e same author, th e immature Larus novæ
lioUo.ndioe.
