This fine Papilio was cleferibed by Fabricius from the cabinet o f Sir Jofeph Banks, B art,: and we alfo
are indebted to th a t valuable cabinet for the drawing th a t accompanies this defcription. I t is worthy o f
remark th at two or three fpecimens only o f this butterfly w ere difcovered by our firft circumnavigators, in
A ew Holland when they touched a t Botany Bay, and that it does not appear any more o f th e fame kind
have been hitherto brought to E u ro p e ; neither has it been fince obferved, fo far as we can lea rn, in any
o th e r p a rt o f th a t iilan d ; although it is apparent from th e contents o f the prefent volume, th e Entomological
productions o f that country have not been neglected. W e are therefore to efteem ourfelves fortunate
in having been able lately to enrich our own colleftion with a beautiful fpecimen o f this fcarce
infeft from th e cabinet o f th e late M r. Dru ry , who was prefented with it by Jofeph Banks, Efq. now
