T h is is a very common in fe ft in fome parts o f N ew Holland, and has retained a place in th e cabinets
o f the curious in this country, from the period in which th e Englifti firft formed a colony in N ew South
Wales. Both the upper and lower furface o f this fpecies are fliewn in the annexed plate upon a fprig

As in the preceding fpecies both the u pper and lower furface o f our new fpecies Bombyx Melanoftifta,
are reprefented in the fame plate. T h e figure delineated a t the upper extremity o f the plant has the wingi
expanded to iliew the lower furface o f this in feft: the upper furface is reprefented in th e lower part
o f the plate.
