T his fpecies o f Bupreftis has not to our knowledge been defcribed by any au th o r. I t is an in fe ft o f
plain appearance, and is chiefly remarkable for being the largeft o f its genus h ith e rto difcovered in the
iflands o f the Indian Seas.— W e fufpeft this infeft cannot be uncommon in N ew South Wales, having
feen, a t various times, many fpecimens o f it among other infefts imported from th at Colony to England.
The lower furface is black flightly glofled with purple.

T h e un d er fide o f this fpecies is entirely black. This is a curious infeft, and has n o t apparently been
taken notice o f by any writer. W e believe it to be far lefs common than the preceding.
