T h e remarks already advanced in fpeaking o f our new fpecies Sphinx Auflralafise, will apply in a material
degree to this nondefcript fpecies likewife. W e cannot ente rtain a doubt o f its being perfeftly
unknown in this country till it was introduced a t tlie fame time as the former by D r. W h ile , I t is ra th e r
larger than o u r Auftralafiae, to which it bears no very remote refemblance; th e colours are in general
darker, and it is in particular diftinguinied by a narrow white ftreak th a t extends along the interior
margin o f the firft pair o f wings.
O f this fpecies we have lately feen three or four fpecimens in different cabinets.
