BRACEYURUS CRASSIROSTRIS ?
On comparing a water-color drawing of Mr. Wallace’s specimen sent to me by
Dr. Sclater, with the Pitta Irena, I am unable to discover any difference between
them as regards size, or color of plumage, so have not deemed it necessary to give
a figure of P . Orassirostris, and consider it doubtful if it may with propriety be
separated from P. Irena.
The bill seems a little broader, but is no longer, and the horn color at the base
of the lower mandible is the only difference in the markings.
Without an example of P. Orassirostris to refer to, it is impossible .to determine
with any degree'of certainty upon its specific value, but it is probable that it will
eventually prove to be only P. Irena from a new locality.
