is = G. ericearpon Bcnth.
Tliis plant cannot "be distinguished by its clesoi-ip.
tiou froai O. parviflonim.
Miquel has not distinguished between the ttvo
plants mised uudev this name, aud does not claim
the preseace of either iu the Uutch territories.
Nor does Miquel claim this as present iu the Dutcli
territories.
Certainly does not belong to tbe gonus ; is almost
certainly congeneric ivith Phlomis rugosa Benth.
Somewhat doubtfully referable to this genus.
This is Phlomis riu/osa Bcnlh., and certainly does
not beloDg to the geuus Gomplmtemma.
A plant undoubtedly congenerie with Phlomis
rvijosa Bcnth.
Not claimod as present in Dutch territory.
seen Q. dichulomim, speaks of it as Tery nearly related to G. parvijlonim; its niitlets should tlierefoie Ije glabrous
aod elUiitic, aud thus altogether unlike those of Antliocama Jlaoesoeas as described by Hasskurl.
So far, indeed, does Hasstarl's deseriptiou difler from the accounts of dickotonam that it ¡9 doubtful if
Zollinger's AKTHOCOJI4. has not been ^atuitously referred to the gcuus GcjirnosTEiiUA by Hasskai-l, Do Caudolle, nod
Miquel; Benlham {Gea. Fl. ii, 1216) thinlcs that the account rsfsrs rather to a Phlomis ihnu to a Gomphoslemma.
But if Hasskarl's description is in all points esaot, this wiU hardly be the case, since n'j FMomis has parallel ajithercells,
while the account of the corolla of Antuocoua is precisely that of the corolla of a Qaiaphostemnm of the
§ PoQOSipnoK, in which diyisioa it might, so far as this is concerned, be accommodated along with G. Hemsleyanum.
The "achsnia," however, "dorso eonoexa ct /Ursata " (Hasskarl) are such aa might belong to § ICcraoupnosTEMjrA
* Lucida, and therefore if, after confirmation of the account of the anther-cells, tlio plant is referred indnbitably
to Gompiostenvia it must at least be considered representative of a separato group, However, until specimeus
of this plant ate obtained on authoritative opinion on its true position cannot be prouounced. Its synonymy is as
follows, the different genera proposed being placed in separate columns :—

T h e type specimens of the "Wallicliiau Herbarium are preserved in the Herbarium
of the Ltniieau Society of London. They have formed the basis of all the accounts
o f the genus prior to the most recent and the best (that by Sir Jos eph Hooker in the
Flora of British India). Mr. \Y. B. Hemsley has very kindly compared a set- of
s p e c i m e n s that agree with tho various Wallichian numbers at Calcutta with the
s p e c i m e n s that correspond to these numbers in the type Herbarium, with the present
c o n d i t i o n of which the writer has thus become acquainted. For convenience of reference
t h e Wallichian names, as indicated by these specimens, are in the subjoined table
p r e s e n t e d alongside of those that the same plants bear in the present paper;
