The specific name sanguinea o f D e Geer having the priority, is here retained in preference
to that o f Fabricius (Ent. Syst.), which is identical with that o f another species
o f the Linnæan Cicadæ, as well as with that which, in his Systema Rhyngotorum, he has
proposed in lieu o f C. hæmatodes o f his earlier works, which is however distinct from
the Linnæan C. hæmatodes, and for which it will be necessary to employ another specific
