Donovan states that the insect here figured inhabits China and every other part
of India. Linnæus, however, referring to Gronovius and Sloane’s Jamaica, gives
America as the locality o f his G, acuminatus ; whilst Fabricius says, “ Habitat in omni
India et in Europa Australi.” In this confusion o f locality, I liave thought it best to
mark the specific name o f this figure with doubt.
