The Buprestis oeellata is very rare. Ol.vter says tt is from J c p i T , t
East Indies Mr Drury possessed an extraordinary variety o f this insect from China,
v h i c h t "w o spots u n L ’; at the suture so as to form only one large spot on the back

surrounded witli a crimson circle. Th ese spots are sometimes brown; probably t h y

exhibit the beautiful appearance o f the under surface, particularly the effulgent abdomen
and purple colour o f the interior part o f the elytra.
