T h i s very beautiful F e rn is exceedingly rare in cultivation
in this country, it is similar to Oymnogramma chrysophylla, b u t
more slender, and smaller in size; th e pinnae are also broader
at the base, and considerably more attenuated at the apex. I n
general appearance it has a character half-way between Q.
sulphurea and G. chrysophylla. The acuminated apex of the
frond is more drawn out than in G. chrysophylla, and the
farinose powder on the u n d e r side of the frond is in colour
lighter than th a t of Q. chrysophylla, and darker and more yelloiv
than th a t of G. sulphurea.
The frond rises out of a short erect rhizoma, and is scarcely
ever more than ten inches in length, and th re e and a h a lf
inches across in th e widest p a rt, usually six inches in length.
The colour of the stipes and midrib is a pale red d ish brown,
hoing much lig h te r, and has not quite so much of the polished
