
to three feet in len g th ; colour a rich d ark green. The fronds
are pinnate, of a lanceolate form, the pinnæ being somewhat
membranous, and lanceolate-acuminate. T hey are much serrated,
being d ecurrent at the base, and articulated with the rachis.
The apices of the veinlets swollen and v ery pale in colour,
giving a spotted appearance to the froud.
T h e sori, which is large, and of a yellowish colour, eventually
becoming brown, are nniserial, about forty pairs, each
provided with a number of laoiniated scales, which th e swelling
sori speedily obliterate.
Sori immersed in the frond, producing elevated protuberances
on the u p p e r surface.
Best known in E n g lan d as the Gonioplilehium argutum.
Messrs. Booth, of Hamb u rg , forwarded a plant of this species,
and Mr. Norman, of H u ll, a frond.
I t does not appear in any of th e E nglish Nurse rym en ’s
Catalogues; it is in th a t of Alessrs. Booth, of Hamburg.
