I h i s curious variety of our Lady Fern was found at
Nettlecombe by Mr. Elworthy.
For further information regarding the varieties of the Lady
Fern , see vol. v, pages 87 to 89, of Lowe’s “ Natural History
of F e rn s,” and pages 31, 33, 34, and 97 of the present
volume.
I t is small in size, and irregular in form. The pinnæ
are sometimes caudate, sometimes prtemorse, and at others quite
short. The pinnnles are also very variable in size and form;
they are decurrent, and very irregularly laciniated.
F o r fronds my thanks are due to Mr. Edwin Cooling, of
the Milo Ash Nursery, Derby.
