Fronds bipinnate, except at the base, where tripinnate.
Pinnæ, two together at the base of tho frond, then alternate,
apex of the frond attenuate. Pinnules, basal ones deeply
divided, wedge-shaped at the base, and sharply dentate on the
margin, the other pinnules acutely wedge-shaped at base, their
apices rounded. Fertile frond trip a rtite , the two opposite segments
contracted, erect, constituting two sporangiferous racemes.
I 'h e pair of fertile pinnæ at the base of the frond are situated
on long slender stalks, and usually there is a th ird fertile pinna
situated immediately above with a sterile pinna, the rest of the
pinnæ being barren.
Rachis and stipes very slender, and copiously hirsute.
Pinnules also hirsute.
Length of frond twelve inches.
Veins forked and free.
Sporangia oval, attached to the base, opening vertically on
the exterior side.
