Ï H I S charming, distinct, and constant F e rn was found on
Beu Lawers, in 1858, by Mr. James Horsfall, of Todmorden.
I t is distinguished from the normal form by the furcations of
the fronds and pinnæ.
The fronds are once or twice forked at their apices.
The pinnæ, which are pinnatifid, are forked at their apices,
the ^pinnules are obtusely-ovate, toothed, and sometimes furcate.
The venation and sori as iii Cystopteris fra g ilis .
Fronds from four to nine inches iu length, and from one to
two inches broad.
