considers it as only a variety of ScHiXADEu’s Th. sericea, which
is the same as his own Th. nitida. F r i e s , on the other hand,
regards Th. sericea and nitida as a variety of his Th. ochro-
leuca, under which he quotes AuricuJaria papyrina of B u l l .
Champ, t. 402., and Sow. Fung. t. 349. If FRIES is correet
in these references (and I have no reason to doubt his being so),
lie is certainly right in keeping Th. sericea apart irom sanguinolenta.
In consequence of not possessing authentic specimens
from F r i e s or P e r s o o n of these plants, I cannot venture to
give any decided opinion, as all the species named are allied to
each other.
