GENERIC CHARACTER.
compressum, a stipile subáis-
hnctum, sed vero discreium.-Genus cobre nigricante vel obscure viridi.
Hymenium short club-shaped, furnished with a stipes, mostly compressed
somewhat confluent with the stipes, but truly distinct.-Coloui of the’
whole genus black, or dull green.

Plant ívora one to nem- three inches in height, gregarious, solitary or seve-
ral growing together, and more or less united at the base in a fasciculate
manner. Clavula distinct, mostly somewhat oblong, and not un-
freqnently compressed and wedge-shaped at the apex, deep green almost
gelaunous in moist weather. Stipes cylindrical, squamulose, of a
pale verdigns-green colour. Hymenium covering the whole davala:
