blackish; throat uniform rufous-buff; remainder of under surface of body deep rufous, whiter on the
abdomen, the fore-neck mottled with black-spotted feathers, the sides of the neck being uniform
black, the black spots less distinct on the breast; under tail-coverts as in the adult female.
The descriptions have been taken from a pair of birds obtained by Mr. John Whitehead on
Kina Balu, at a height of 10,000 feet, in February 1888. The specimens figured are in the Seebohm
