A native of tropical America,—Brazil, Illiios, Guiana, Amazon,
New Grenada, Mexico, Guayaquil, P e ru , West Indian Islands,
Jamaica, T rin id ad , Dominica, and Guadaloupe.
'I'lie fronds are hipinnate, pinnæ oblong-acuminate, from five
to seven lateral ones, horizontal, the terminal one being elongated
; pinnules ovate-oblong, obtusely acuminate, Avedge-sbaped
at the base, the u p p e r base being para lle l with the rachis.
Sterile jiinnules obscurely lobate, serrate. The fertile pinnules
have a se rra ted apex.
Stipes angular, ebeneous, rachis fe rrugineo-hirsute, attached
to a creeping elongate caudex.
Sori large, oblong, numerous.
L ength of frond from one to two feet; colour deep green.
