than any other Fern. I t is so readily propagated from spores,
th a t ■wherever it is grown a stock of young plants are soon
obtained, oven when no care is taken to re a r them from spor-
ules, for they spring up in the pots which stand around them.
This F e rn was received at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew,
in the y ear 1841, from the Royal Botanic Gardens of Berlin.
Fro n d s glabrous, triq u ad rip in n a te , very slender, membranaceous
pinnules upon long slender ebeneous petiolules; pinnules wedge-
shaped, the supe rior margin ro unded, obtuse lobes, pinnules
numerous, sterile lobes se rru la te ; fertile lobes emarginate. Stipes
and rachis shining, ebeneous, and having a plum-coloured bloom
upon them.
T h e fronds, which are more or less erect, are attached to a
somewhat tufted rhizoma. T hey are usually about twelve inches
in length. One of my plants has fronds eighteen inches long.
Sori of a moderate size, from four to six on a pin n u le ;
indusium reniforme.
A . cuneatum is an evergreen stove species.
An inhabitant of Brazil, having been found at St. Ca tha rine’s,
on the Organ Mountains, n ear Rio, and at Uraguay.

The young fronds, when they first come up are p in k , when
th ey first expand are of a pale g reen, and afterwards become
a rich green colour. T h e frond Is nak ed for two th ird s of its
len g th , and is somewhat wedge-shaped.
