A P R E T T Y , and at the same time an uncommon, garden
species generally speaking, y e t well worthy of extensive cu ltivation;
compact in h abit, and b rillian t in colour; easily cu ltivated.
A warm greenhouse evergreen species.
From the E a st and AVest Ind ie s, Alexico, China, the south
of E u ro p e , Arabia, and Armenia.
Cultivated in the Eoyal Gardens, Kew, in the year 1820.
T h e fronds are glabrous and pinnate, the piiinEe of the sterile
fronds linear-lanceolate, the lower pair b ip a rtite , petiolulate, with
a se rrated margin. The fertile segments linear, narrow, se rrated
at the apex, and frequently six inches long.
Rachis and stipes straw-coloured.
