whorls ro unded, slightly plaited, and subnodose behind. Mouth o v a te ; throat yellow, g rooved; pillar lip

T his shell is somewhat like a small variety of the former, b ut the plaits on the pilla r are larger, and the
throat and lips are differently coloured.

The head conical, small (when contracted, placed in the canal), separate from the foot. Tentacles very
short, close together a t the end of the head. F oot folded across when contracted. Operculum long, large,

Shell obconic, solid, spirally grooved ; b right crimson, varied with short white and black cross lin e s;
spire short, conic, acute ; last w horl acutely keeled, and with a scries of compressed nodules behind. Mouth
reddish ye llow ; th ro a t striated ; inner lip thick, absorbed b eh in d ; pillar concave, acute, deep red in front.

Shell elongate, fig-shaped, th in , regularly cancellated, pale brown, with many irregula r longitudinal
streaks; the spire conical, convex, b lu n t ; last whorl very large, m uch elongated, and a ttenuated in front, with
fine transverse, and ra the r broade r, equal, regular spiral ribs. Axis 4 inches.
Inhab. China.
L ike P . reticulata, b u t more regularly cancellated, differently coloured, and larger a n d more slender.
This species has the suture rather more callous than P . reticulata, b u t not so much so as P . Ficus.

Shell d istorted, largely umbilicated, white, finally spirally s tria te d ; spire above flat, with a central
p o in t; whorls trigonal behind, flat, with a sharp ridge o f reflexed triangular spinous processes, the lower
ones becoming disjointed, compressed, and expanded in front, and edged with large triangular compressed
spines, outer e n tir e ; throat smooth.

T his species is most like P yrula R apa, b u t differs in the flatness of the top o f the spire and back o f the
whorls, and in the keel being formed with compressed spines. I t is somewhat like the Cancellaria trigonos-
toma in shape, b u t has no plaits on the columella.

Shell elongate, fusiform; whorls convex, two-keeled, the hinder keel elevated, acute, with a series o f very
compressed incurved sp in e s; the anterior keel acute, simple. Mouth s iu a ll; canal as long as the spire,
cylindrical, with three or four oblique spiral bands o f small spines in the middle. Axis 2 i inches.
