T h is in its shape approaches somewhat nearer the rhomboid, but in ail other material circumstances, agrees
with the species already described. T h e eyes are a iittie more prominent, and the upper edge o f the orbit
prickly. T h e teeth larger than in the former, and somewhat curve. T h e lateral line terminated a t the middle
ra y o f the caudal f in ; the pectoral fin inclined more to a falcate fo rm ; the caudal equally divided.
T h e colour silvery, as in the last species, but with bands o f dusky yellow, between the back and lateral line.
T h e spinous part o f the dorsal fin. ye llow at the bottom, and black above. T h e pectoral and ventral g la s s y ;
the anal, caudal, and hinder part o f the dorsal pale yellow.
T h e length five inches.

T h e re was another species (not drawn) distinguished by the name o f Sudoon Karah, differing from the
above in colour ; in the body being a little more oblong; and in the gums being rough like a file, without
visible teeth.
T h e co/wr universally silver, but the throat remarkably burnished; the be lly white, not bright, the back
reflecting various tints, from a silvery ground.
Length five inches.

T h is small fish comes nearest to the last in its shape, but in other characters agrees to the description o f the
first species, with the few following variations. T h e back before the dorsal fin was not only carinate, but to
'the finger fe lt serrated; distinct from the fin there was a small recumbent spine pointing fo rward ; the scales
rather less perceptible; the pectoral fin less falcate than in the last; the ventral had no spinous ray, and was
much shorter than in any o f the former species.
T iie colour, like the rest, was silvery, ye t less bright above the lateral lin e : all the fins were o f a pale yellow,
except the anterior part o f the dorsal, and whole o f the tail, which were orange.
Length four inches.- I never found them exceed six.

In shape, this is more exactly ovate than any o f the former, but in other respects differs from the last, chiefly
in colour; in the back not being serrate; and in wanting the recumbent dorsal spine.
T h e colour a bluish white, somewhat darker on the back, and lighter on the b e lly ; a broad yellow fillet from
the opercula to the tail. T h e fins pale yellow, and a large dark spot on the fore part o f the dorsal fin.
T h e length o f the subject four inches, and seldom exceeds eight.
It is cured in the same manner as the former.

T he paper containing the description o f this pisciculus having been lost, I can say nothing more from recollection
than that it possessed the general characters o f those already described, and was o f a silvery white,
variegated, in the manner expressed in the drawing, though the exact colours are not remembered.
T h e length of the second dorsal and anal fins is a conspicuous character.
