furface of bundles of medullary fibres, difpofed tranfverfely, and paffing
from one fide of the medulla oblongata to the other fide of it, or joining
thefe two pyramidal bodies intimately together. !^etwccn thefe pyramidal
bodies there is a fiflure above a quarter of an inch deep, into
which the pia mater e;iters, and, ftill deeper, velTels pafs between the
decuflating bundles of medullary fibres.

which form the back part of the medulla oblongata.
