Desc. Eoot a small, scutate disc. Eronds tufted, 3-1 2 inches long, or more,
from half a line to one or two lines in diameter, tubular, tapering to each
extremity, fui-nisbed at short intervals witb branches similar in form, but of
rather less diameter than the main frond, which are again beset with smaller
ramuU. Branches and ramuli mostly opposite, sometimes in threes, rarely
scattered, patent, aU much constricted at their insertion, and produced at
them apices into very fine, setaceous points. When in fructification, tbe
branches, in all parts of tbe frond, are marked, at spaces of half a hue
asunder, witb transverse rings or bands composed of clusters of roundish
