In tro d u c ed into the Royal Gardens, Kew, in the year 1841,
having been received from th e Royal Gardens of Berlin.
F ronds simple and glabrous. F e rtile frond erect in habit,
ovate-elliptical, and acuminate. Sterile frond ovate or oblong-
acuminate, coriaceous, undulated, and roundish at the base.
Stipes and rachis d ark p urple in colour beneath, green above.
Fronds articulated near the rhizoma.
Rhizoma scaly and creeping.
F e n g th of fertile frond twelve inches, of sterile frond twelve
to eighteen inches. Colour a deep shining green.
Sori amorphous, and densely covering the under side of the
frond.
Veins forked and free.
