'i: T h e Iloyal or Aljiinc Bladder F e rn is a very handsome
dwarf indigenous sjîecies.
A deciduous h a rd y F e rn , growing on walls.
Only found at Low Tjcyton, in Essex.
Native of Switzerland—on the Aljis, in the P y re n e e s—on
Mount Taygetos and Mount Taurus.
In tro d u c ed into the Iloyal Gardens, Kew, in lT9o.
The fronds, which are herbaceous, are lanceolate, sub-tribi-
piunate, smooth, and erect; pinnæ ovate and uneq u a l; pinnules
ovate and profoundly pinnatifid, with linear-oblong lobes.
Veins branching.
Stipes one-third the length of the frond. Eachis winged
above.
Fructification covering the back of the frond.
Sori numerous, small, circular, medial, and indusiatc.
Ehizoma brief, spreading, tufted, and perennial.
L en g th of frond from three to eight inches; colour jialc
green.
