Cystopteris—Bladder Fern. Slender.
I t would be difficult to find a F e rn more appropriatcly
namcd than this species, the fronds are so slender and fragile
that they can scarcely hear th e ir own weight, although the
substance of the frond is remarkably thin. Some authorities
consider it a varicty of Cystopteris fr a g ilis , b u t I th in k there
can h ardly be a doubt as to the two being perfectly distinct
sjiecics.
A half-hardy deciduous Fern.
Native of N o rth America.
The fronds are sub-tripinnatc, and oblong-lanceolate in fo rm ;
pinnules oblong and rath e r ovate, the one n e x t the rachis
being largest; profoundly pinnatifid, with blu n t dentate segments.
