Sterile fro n J glabrous, pinnate, and shining; the pinnæ
being oblong-acuminate, u ndulated, large, and somewhat membranous;
the basal ones petiolate, and roundish at the base,
the u p p e r pinnæ adnate-decurrent. F e rtile frond pinnate or
bipinnate below; the pinnæ oblong-ovate; the basal ones p e tiolate
and the u p p e r ones adnate.
Stipes covered with narrow scales, scaly near the base.
Fronds lateral, and adherent to a creeping rhizoma. Fertile
fronds erect in habit.
Sori amorphous.
A'eins pinnate; venules compoundly anastomosing.
L en g th of frond from twelve to th irty inches; colour bright
green.
