Children’s clothes, as such, are unknown in the simple
economy of Burma, and every little girl is dressed
like her mother, from her sandals to the flowers in
her hair; and every little boy like his father, in a
tartan kilt, a white muslin jacket, and flaming gaung-
baunp- on his head— that is, when o he is dressed at all.
In the country, and within the precincts of hte own
home, he is apt to go about wdth nothing on at all.
