The Black-throated Diver is a not unfrequent visitor
to our coasts in winter, but it breeds regularly in
several of the lochs of the northern counties of Scotland
and in many of the islands of the Outer Hebrides and in
the Orkneys. Lord Lilford includes it in his ' Birds of
Northamptonshire/ an immature bird having been killed
on Naseby Reservoir on 25th October, 1881. Two
others are mentioned as having been obtained near the
borders of the county. [O. S.]
