Glareola. Generic Characters.—.Beak short, convex, compressed towards
the .point, the upper mandible; curved throughput the distal half of its length.
Mostrilsbasal, lateral, * pierced obliquely. Legs hare for a short space above
the tarsal jjpint;< long and rather slender toes in front, one behind f
the middle toe united by a short membrane to the outer toe 5 the inner toe
free; the hind toe articulated upon the tarsus; claws long and subulate.
Wings yery long, the first'quill-feather considerably the. longest.
