Capsule 3-celled, 3-valved, enclosed by the calix.
SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
Leaves oval, acuminate, somewhat obtuse at base, serrate, every where smooth,
nearly glaucous beneath ; racemes spiked, sub-solitary, bracteated, invested
with a white tomentum. Mich, and Pursh.
