£ Satm-nia with the fore wings of a very pale fulvous brown, thieldy irrorated with reddish scales ; the costa and
f an oblique fascia, before the middle of the wings, very much attenuated behind, of a very pale pnxtoh-wlnte ;
the basal portion of the wing reddish, terminated by a dark pink hne ; the pale fascia is succeeded by a very
: oblique streak of reddish-brown, which rests on the anterior edge of the centre ocellus, which is rather small and of
a dusky coloiu-, with a very slender cui-ved white line towards the base of the whig ; the succeeding space is thickly
irrorated with red brown scales, followed by two rather indistinct very slender and much waved strigae, which
V termhiate at the apex of the wings in a white angulated mark and a black patch ; the outer margm of the wmg is
J widely ashy-fiilvons, foUowed by a narrow ashy-colom-ed edging ; the hind wings bave the gi-eater portion of a pale
pink colom., traversed before the middle of the wmg by a doi-k pink fascia, which is recm-ved owaMs the mner
mar^n ; the middle of the wmg is occupied by a large black ocellus bearing a dull yellow circle with a slender
white ciu-ved Ihie, and a daa-k pink one at its base ; between this ocellus and the margm of the ™ g are two waved
red brown strigoe, beyond which the wing is of a fulvous red colour, with a dull pale greyish butt edgmg.
Expansion of the fore wings in both sexes nearly G mches. _

O B S E I I V A T I O N S . - T h e female of tliis fine species 1ms the fore wings comparatively larger and less
liooked than in the males; the antennoe are much less pectinated, and the ocellus of the hmd wings is
rounder. Each ocellus bears a very slender A-itreous transverse streak. The antennfe are fulvous
buff, the front of the thorax is of the same coloin- as the costa of the fore wiugs, and the hind part of
the thorax is marked with a transverse white stripe which, when the wings are closed, must be continuous
with the slender pale inner part of the fascia of the fore wings; the abdomen is of a pale
pinkish buff.
I trust that, in consequence of Captain Boys' arrival in England, I shall be enabled, in a subsequent
article, to communicate an account of the early states of tliis insect. •
